Enjoy a day of fun with family and friends by simply commandeering every single pillow, couch cushion, and blanket you can find in order to build an incredible pillow fort!
World Pillow Fort Day is all about stepping back from the everyday stresses of life and spending some time with the people you care about. Young or old, or somewhere in between, everyone can reap the rewards of building a good, old-fashioned pillow fort. If you’ve got a lot of people to accommodate, why not make a pillow fort village? Create multiple forts and commence in a pillow war! Whose pillow fort was the sturdiest? Whose was the comfiest? Largest? Smallest? Most visually appealing?

How did World Pillow Fort Day come into existence?
The birth of World Pillow Fort Day happened on a whim. During a discussion with a good friend, we decided that the world needed more pillow forting. In fact, it needed an entire day that was completely dedicated to it! More importantly, it was going to happen the very next day! In hindsight, trying to reach a global audience to spread the news in under 24 hours, and then expect the entire world to be able to carve out some time to build some pillow forts… it just wasn’t the best plan on our part.
Why is World Pillow Fort Day on the third Saturday of July?
The first World Pillow Fort Day occurred on May 9, 2017, and had roughly 10 participants. That’s not bad for a day’s work, but we know that we can do better!
After much thought and deliberation, it was then decided that the third Saturday in July would be the optimal time for World Pillow Fort Day. It’s when a large portion of the world is having their summer holidays, and it’s on a weekend for those 9-5ers who couldn’t get some time off. It also expands the possibility of holding and outdoor pillow fort extravaganza! That’s optimal in awesome.
