Who we are

Our website address is jrcdyer.com

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

This website uses Disqus to manage its comments. You can read more about Disqus and their privacy policies via the following link: https://help.disqus.com/terms-and-policies/disqus-privacy-policy

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. Media can be uploaded within the comments section. Jrcdyer.com will not tolerate abuse of this feature. This website aims to be viewable by an audience of all ages, and thus requires the comments to adhere to these standards. Failure to keep the comments PG will result in removal of the media feature for everyone. Don't be that guy.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site (via Disqus), we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use software to help understand how our visitors use our website and what content is preferred. Without it, we'd fail miserably at just about everything. We do not save personally identifying information about you on our server. All information collected is tallied for statistical purposes only and is not being used to identify you. Our analytics are handled by Google and CloudFlare (a service that helps this website be both safer and faster).

Who we share your data with

We use Disqus for commenting. That means every time you log in and interact with this website, you are logging in to your Disqus account and not an account hosted and maintained on Jrcdyer.com's server. To learn more about how Disqus manages your data, please visit: https://help.disqus.com/terms-and-policies/disqus-privacy-policy

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. However, you may edit or delete your comment via the Disqus commenting system at any time. Therefore, we only retain your data for as long as you like.

How we protect your data

This website is secured by both firewall and encryption. While we strive to keep your data secure, you are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of your Disqus account password and strength.

What data breach procedures we have in place

Unauthorized access to our website will result in a temporary shut down, followed by immediate notice to all of our users. We will not reopen the website until the problem has been dealt with and all current user passwords have been reset. It is for this reason that all users maintain current and active email accounts to ensure password resets can be made.
