It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

So it happened. Winnipeg got snow. Snow, people. Lots and lots of snow. I’ve already shovelled twice, and the bloody stuff just keeps on coming down. My arms are sore, and my socks are soaked right through. What’s a guy to do? Heck, get ready to build a snow fort, of course.

That’s right. I’ve been working hard all day long, stealing snow from the sidewalks and the neighbours’ yards, all to ensure that I have enough snow to build the ultimate snow fort tomorrow afternoon. I really hope the weather keeps on dumping it down on us.

The plan is to have an army of snowmen on the left side of the back yard, and a snow fort on the right. I’m really keeping my fingers crossed that the heavens drop another few inches on us. It would be super if the wind would pick up and push some more snow into my front yard. That way I’ll be able to cart some to the back, though I might be making a fort there, too. We’ll see how much snow is left over.

Do you folks get snow where you’re from? If you do, what do you do with it? What are your favourite winter activities? If you don’t get snow, what the heck do you do in the winter?

Update – The following day: It’s still snowing, but the wind picked up and cooled everything down so much that it made the snow impossible to form. I’ll have to wait the storm blows over to start the fort now. :(
