More Harry Potter?! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming!

Whether you loved or hated him, Harry Potter is coming back with a brand new, two part book called: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and it’ll be available on July 31, 2016! Wait… wait a minute. Nope. No, it’s not a book. It’s a script. They’re selling the script as a book. Ugh. Is that annoying? Are they marketing a script as a book? While the idea is cool, I’m guessing a whole lot of Harry Potter fans are going to be a tad upset when they sit down to read this ‘book’ and it’s nothing like they were expecting.

Now before you go getting excited about a new movie, well, that probably won’t be happening, either. If you haven’t already guessed by the script-book mentioned above, then guess what?! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is going to be a play! With preview viewings starting in May, and the world premiere scheduled for July 30, 2016, you can watch the play and read the book at the same time! Of course, you might end up missing bits, so do one first, then the other. Just like putting on pants.

Unfortunately, if you’re planning on catching a viewing, prepare to fly to London, England! I’m sure the play will travel around the world at some point, but for now it’s looking like London’s the only place to catch Harry Potter live. I find that to be a really odd idea for something that pulled in so much money.

Okay, no more dirge! Let’s turn the focus onto the actual story. Let’s take a look at the synopsis:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

That sounds acceptable, right? I really wish there was a little more to go on, though. Is the cursed child Harry’s son, or do they have to save a cursed child? It sounds like it’s the son, right? It’s all so very vague, though I suppose all they really have to do is throw in the name ‘Harry Potter’ and it’ll sell. The problem is, this whole mystery of things is driving me nuts!

One thing that’s not a mystery, though, is that if this play-book-thingy does well, I’m willing to be that within a few years time it’ll be turned into a full-on novel (or greater) and another trilogy of movies. What do you think? Will the Harry-book-play-script-thingy be a success? What are your predictions for the future of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?
